After a unit of study on volcanoes, the 5-6 students completed "Instagram" slideshows about a famous volcano. In groups, the students researched their assigned volcano and completed a graphic organizer of facts. Next, they used an Instagram slideshow template to create fake Instagram profiles for their volcanoes. Pictures, captions, and comments were included to help describe each volcano. Immediately following our presentations of these projects, the students had the opportunity to build their very only volcanoes to erupt in class. Using trays, clay, and water bottles, the students built the various type of volcanoes. Finally, our unit concluded when we erupted these in class on Friday, January 22. The students had a great time!
